Humanist celebrant

I left my career in publishing  9 years ago to become a celebrant, after attending a humanist service for a friend who died in their 30’s. It was so personal and uplifting, and it inspired me to become a celebrant myself – and I’ve never looked back.

Without a doubt, the most rewarding aspect of being a celebrant is the opportunity to connect with families. There’s something magical about discovering the true essence of a person and not only capturing it, but then being able to share it with their loved ones. I’ve learned never to judge a book by its cover, and that sometimes even the most seemingly ‘ordinary’ of people have led the most extraordinary lives.

I  feel privileged when people I’m meeting for the first time feel able to entrust me with memories of their loved ones. I get to be part of their story, and that feels incredibly special to me.

The way you held the space! It was beautiful to watch as you so gracefully allowed the stories and memories to pour out. We all left feeling buoyed by your words.

You rocked many people’s lives today. Helen would undoubtedly be proud.

I would like to say a huge thank you from my heart. You are amazing, and I knew as soon as I met you that you would be the right person to lead the celebration of Peter’s life.
