Rituals: what do we want from them?
As we say on our home page, rituals are are the product of human thought, culture, and practice. They’re the ways in which we create meaning, and they change over time. We know that Humanist rituals – especially funerals and weddings – are already popular in the UK but elsewhere, especially in the USA, humanists also conduct amicable separations for couples who are ending their relationship rather than beginning it.
In Iceland and Norway, the most popular humanist rituals are coming of age ceremonies for teenagers – why don’t we do them here?
These are just some of the things we’ll be talking about at 6.30 pm on Monday 3rd November, and we’d love to hear your thoughts.
If you’re not already a member, please join Humankind. Meetings are on Zoom and we will send you a link to access the call prior to the meeting.
